I received this camera case a week ago, and I've never regretted a purchase more. The case STINKS. I left it outside for a week, and though the smell has decreased, from causing me to retch to merely making me nauseous, it still stinks. It off-gasses a smell a bit like diesel fuel, but much stronger. As a chemist I have had the opportunity to smell a wide variety of hydrocarbons, and this case smells like a mixture of various aliphatic an aromatic species, likely containing a number of PNAs (polynuclear aromatics), which are likely quite toxic. The smell raises the hair on the back of my neck, and scares the hell out of me. My chemical intuition says, "Danger -- Toxic!". I can't believe anyone would sell a product like this, and I pity the poor workers who were exposed to the fumes during its manufacture. Is it made from recycled industrial waste?
